Automatic Transfer Switch - Power Within Your Hands

Due to the needs of electrical shifts, the automatic transfer switch has been developed. Switches are the things that connect the operator from the equipment he is operating. Often this also enables the operator to declare if energy is available or not.  This is because this minute device has the capacity to break or divert circuit and it can also decide whether preset or not, unto which energy supplier will the electricity come from. The electromechanical type is the most common form of this device, which is connected to one or more electrical contacts. The contacts can be either closed or open. When closed, the contacts are touching and electricity is flowing freely between them whereas open contacts are not at all connected to each other and are not producing energy.

Wiring Transfer Switch to Home Generator

It was designed to allow transfer of energy from a primary source of power to another source either secondary or tertiary. This type is often used in electrical power distribution systems although the same device is also associated with emergency power generators whose main function is to back-up power from the utility source. During power shortage or fluctuations at home, this device is also effective in isolating the critical circuits from the utility device such as cooling, refrigeration or lighting. This isolation allows the generator to continue its function without causing negative feedback to the utility equipment and such further prevent damage to the utility energy source or to the utility workers.

An automatic transfer switch is power within your hands. It also functions to determine the incoming power from the utility source. This allows for detection of anomalies such as voltage sags, brownouts, spikes or surges and will automatically command the generator to turn on and act as an energy provider during these fluctuations.

This also dictates if the generator has enough voltage and is on the same frequency so that it can function and produce the required energy needed to sustain all appliances, which are dependent on the utility source.

After the period of abnormalities, the switch will automatically shut down the generator and will allow the utility source to operate back. This then allows the generator some time to cool down. This transfer can be both effective during unwanted energy fluctuations of unknown duration or during preset preferred diversions in energy source. In this sense, there is therefore no need to turn on and off your generators once, you need them because this switch can do the clicking for you.

This type of device can be set to supply power to a few critical circuits or even to the entire electrical panel. Modern products found in the market today have so much variations in which some can also prioritize which electric panel will be used the most. Aside from transferring electric sources, an automatic transfer switch has been proven effective in data processing and electronic load, loads of transformers and motors, curtailing certain electric loads, or any load interruption systems.
